Equator Echoes is an independent online magazine founded and edited by Alessia D’Introno.
Founded in the suburbs of Milan, the magazine follows the echoes that cross equators, not to replace one centre with another, but to observe the connections that link places, stories, and people. It gathers research, practices, and narratives spanning different geographies. It is grounded in the belief that no culture is static and that no present can be understood without considering the relationships that shape it.
Contemporary African arts are the launchpad, not the limit.
Equator Echoes approaches them through diasporic communities, the flow of people and ideas, Black and trans feminisms, LGBTQ+ experiences, interdisciplinary research, and the point of view of younger generations.
Issues of race, class, and gender are explored through intersectional lens, recognising how these dimensions intertwine in both artistic practice and everyday life.
The magazine is a space for archiving, criticism, and dialogue. It emerged from the need to gather underrepresented perspectives within the Italian cultural landscape and to bring them into dialogue and global developments.
It is an invitation to listen, exchange views, and question how we view the world.
